Too small for splitting?

I bought my first gbta on 4/12/07. It was approx. 4" in diameter. It was somewhat bleached when I got it, but under my lights in the last month it has turned its natural color. Well this morning when I went to check on the tank inhabitants, to my surprise, it was in the middle of separating! Now, 6 1/2 hours after the split one half looks healthy and the other have is shrunken and "sickly" looking. Is this normal, or should both halves look healthy? And why did it split when it was so small? I've read that bta's, if and when they split, are pretty big at the time.

Sometimes anemones will split under stress as an attempt at a better survival. Even though you are providing it a better environment its probably still sick. It may die (the sick twin) keep and eye on it, give it a few days. Dont try to feed the new guy for at least 3-5 days... they arent ready to eat yet(thats what I heard- but never had one split on me as of yet
