out a couple of days ago in my biocube. No matter how many times I wash it, it's still dirty. I might just leave it out because I've seen European tanks with out filters and they look amazing

That's what all of us do... pitch the 1st chamber insert in the trash... pull the sponges... pull the bioballs... run chemipure/purigen and a bag of rowaphos.. run a scrubber or a chaeto fuge... good to go! Oh yeah there's always that option for a skimmer, the Tunze nano DOC is one of the better ones.
