Well I did it, I took the plunge and today and turned my 25 gal into marine. It was not to hard but had to have the water ready as everything from my 10 gal nano went into the 25 and the fish etc from the 25 are now in the 10. So I now have a 25 gal saltwater and a 10 gal freshwater.
Things are a bit cloudy yet, fish are extremely happy even the CC star fish and the Purple urchin, these two are my main concern but the change went well using all the stuff from the 10 gal and adding just 15 gal of aged salt water I had to get going first. The starfish and urchin are on the glass just a motoring and the fish..... well they are going to swim themselves to death I am sure.
I was nervous about doing this as I did not want to send this tank into a cycle and hope that if it does happen to it is very small. All the filters, sand, rock etc were from the existing tank including the water so I think all should be fine...keeping my fingers crossed.
I had to part with a freshwater angel fish that was to big for my 10 gal and in trade came home with two damsels to add to my tank. I now have 2 ocellaris clowns, 1 yellow tail damsel and 2 (purple head damsels???????) When the tank clears up I am going to post a picture of my two new damsels. I would love to know what type they are for sure.
Their body is a very soft yellow, and the head portion to the gill area is a very soft purple. I noticed a black dot on either side of their gills and their mouths look as if they have a thin black line going over it. Very soft and pretty they are but I would love to know what kind they are for sure. They were labeled (purple head damsel)
