OUCH!!!

I feel so bad for all those creatures that suffered. Should we expect higher prices soon on items comming out of Florida?

If I could do it, I would. I just don't know how.

Would not buying stuff out of Florida help? Seems like it would while the reefs try to recover.

If we go trying to play god we will really screw things up. This isn't the first time these creatures have suffered through a cold snap, it wont be the last. We need to just let nature take it's course. Besides, if the global warming crowd is correct that warmer water we move them to will end up boiling them in a few years.

But man it is sad all that coral and fish that died. We had a smaller die off down here from the cold.

Sewage and fertilizer runoff is the real threat, at least for the shallow reefs.

I know in this country the reason for a lot of the treated sewage is the governments need to get as many people on the municipal sewer system as possible to pay for it. Unfortunately you can't get the nitrates out of the treated water.
They have septic tanks now that are way more effective than any large scale treatment plant but unfortunately in this country at least the areas near the coasts are so highly populated that most of the waste is handled through large municipal treatment plants.
I can only imagine what's being pumped into the waters in some of the 3rd world countries near the reefs.

Heck, every time it rains too hard here there always seems to be drainage problems causing a lot of untreated sewage to enter the rivers and we all know where the rivers eventually lead to ...
