Training anthias

I just got 3 anthias a couple of days ago. In accordance with their picky reputations, 2 of them eat only mysis and plankton or frozen brine ( both w/Zoe). My largest (and potential alpha male) doesn't find these foods too interesting. He's eaten a very small amount compared to the other 2, only a couple bites. I heard they can be "trained" to eat other foods, like flake or formual I or II. Anybody have any experience with this?

I would try soaking the food in a garlic extract to see if it will entice them to other stuff.
You may also want to try making up a mixture of several foods soaked in garlic and vitamins to see what they will pick out of it.

Personally, I have had luck with mixing frozen foods (brine, mysid etc) with live brine. If you do not have access to live food then hatch some out and mix the newly hatched shrimp with the frozen. Slowly cut back on the amount of live food over the course of a couple of weeks and with a little luck your anthias will be "trained" to eat the frozen foods. Remember to feed smaller portions, several times(two to three) a day.

PS some species are easier to train then others. Barlett anthias can convert almost immediately while purple queens seldom ever do IME.
