I want to transfer my volitan lion from qt to my dt. Want to know the best way to do this i know there fins can get stuck in a net real easy. I also want to know if any of my other fish will pick on him because he is only 3 inches. My tank is a 125 gallon has a 5 inch maroon clown 3 blue chromis 1 coral banded shrimp 2 large anemone and 1 mono fish. Any help appreciated.

not sure on transporting, but the lion WILL eat the shrimp and more than likely, the chromis.

I agree; and the maroon clown can get very territorial, even in a bigger tank. If the clown picks on the new lion, put the clown in QT for a few days. To transfer, just take everything out of the QT and herd the lion into a plastic container...though I've never had a problem with nets.

I am a big fan of plastic containers instead of nets . Less traumatic in my opinion .

You're right, sometime I'm just lazy. However, for moving damsels, I still prefer a big Volitan Lionfish.

Try your LFS, see if they have an old collection cup. I give our old ones away all the time. If not dollar store for a cheap bowl. Anything that can fit in his mouth he will hit. He may not get it down but more than likely kill the target fish. He may hit the CBS or the CBS may drive him nuts pickin at his fins. Have seen and or read of it here. Someone here had a CBS driving his Lion nuts. If you get stung by the Lion get the site under hot water 122 deg. or more. The heat will break down the protiens in the venom. Got stung one time baggin one thats when I went to the dollar store. I add 99 cents to the price and just put him in a big bowl with a lid. Easier all the way around.
Good luck

use a net to herd him into a bowl, this is what I used to move my puffer from QT to DT and he was never out of the water so he was not traumatized.

might want to wear some thick gloves, to minimize the seriousnous of a sting.
