transfering equipment

I recently picked up a 20 from a fellow who moving. It has a powerhead that is way overkill. I put that one in my 55 and want to move a smaller one from the 55 to the 20. I have been battling aipstia in the 55 and almost have it licked. I worry that I could transfer it to the new tank. Can I boil the powerhead? Can I be sure it will prevent cross contamination? I know they are cheap, but the LFS is an hour and a half away.
Thanks

you can run it it vinegar water or bleach water. If you use bleach, be sure to use declorinator after. Rinse them really well after the soak.

Just soak it in freshwater overnight...nothing will live from the saltwater tank, not even hair algae. If you want it to be overkill add a little bleach...but rinse, rinse and re-rinse and then do it all over again to be sure to get it clear of chlorine before you use it.
