Transporting Fish

I'm about ready to enter the Army and I don't want to leave my beloved fish behind. I got quite close to them. I could very well get stationed across the country. What I want to know is, how could I possibly transport them? My husband suggested buying a DC converter to hook up, and not filling the tank completly up and anchoring the 2 tanks in the back seat of the truck. This would keep the pumps working and by filling the tanks halfway, it would leave enough air in and keep the water from sloshing. I just want someone's input on transporting the fish. :help:

Bag them just like the LFS... a little water and lots of air. Never move a tank with ANY water in it, certainly not enough for fish.

Yep, I agree with what Wax said.
Another option to consider that I've seen work well for longer distances and really like is fill a styrofoam cooler with water from your tank, put in the fish, then cut a hole in the top large enough for you to get an airline into. They still get aeration, the styrofoam will help hold the temperature more steady, and it's nice and dark to help minimize stress on the fish somewhat.

Thank you soo much guys!
Like I have said, I've grown quite attached to my fish and I don't want to give them up if at all possible. I never thought of the styrofoam cooler; great idea!!!! :cheer:
