I've been consistently testing pH at 8.0, alk at 2.5 and Ca at 490. So I've decided to try buffering with washing soda to bring the pH and alk up. Yesterday morning I added 1.5 tsp of washing soda to my 150. I tested the water around 6 pm (which is when I normally test) and the pH was 78.2, alk 3 and Ca 490 (my calcium NEVER seems to change. It just hangs out at 490). I dosed in the morning before going to work so that everything would have a chance to mix up.
As a means to see how much I should dose, I didn't dose anything this morning and my testing this evening showed pH 8.0, alk 2.5 and Ca 490.
I take this to mean that I need to dose on a daily basis. But I question whether I'm using the correct measurements
i.e., should I be dosing and testing within a short period of time? or is my dosing testing regimen satisfactory?
