Someone else correct me if i'm wrong, but i beleive by using ammno chips it will not effect the ick treatment(i assume you are using copper). To remove the treatment, i've used carbon in the past. Have you tied the garlic route yet? Its really worked for me. Are these newly added fish to your main tank?
Is your tank cycled yet? What are your other water perameters?

my tank is about 5 weeks, i think it is close to cycling, my salinity is fine, my nitrites is a little high, my ph is fine, i have a 55 gal with 42 lbs of live rock, 40 lbs of live sand, 3 hermmies, 1 powder blue tang, 3 puffers, and two triggers all young, you mentioned something about copper treatment, i am treating with a ick removal medicine, i bought a new filter and took out the carbon because according to what i heard the carbon basically will take the medicine away thus defeating the purpose of treating the ick, what about the copper? i heard a little about that before?

If your tank has high ammonia and nitrites, it's NOT DONE cycling. You need to get those fish out of that tank until it is finished, or they'll die. See if you can take them back to lfs till your tank is finished cycling. I doubt they will give you credit for them, since they are sick. That is also way to many fish for a 55gal., even fully cycled. What is an ick removal medicine? Rid-Ick, Kick Ick, seem to have little or no effect, if that is what you are referring to.
Hope this helps,

I must agree with KDLBEM. You really must get these fish eighter into a hospital tank or bring them back to your LFS. I can't beleive some lfs will sell all of these fish to be put in a new tank!! Even though these are all small fish, there is way too many fish in your tank, let alone before your cycle is complete. First of all SLOW DOWN!!! Take the fish back to your lfs if you can. Maybe, keep one of the small triggers, but try to take the rest back. All of the fish in the tank are causing too much stress being together(probably causing your ick problem) along with the ammonia build up = BIG PROBLEMS. Sounds like you have a pretty good set up so far (as far as the live sand and live rock goes). What type of machanical filter, skimmer do you have? Are you testing for ammonia and nitrites? You really MUST test for this in a new tank set up to tell when your cycle is complete. I don't know how bad the ick is but you can try soaking all food in garlic juice ("Kolic" (sp) you can get it at GNC)
As far as getting credit for your fish at your lfs, you still might if the ick is under control. Again, try to slow down. This hobby is very expensive and you really need to do alot research, read books and ask questions. Alot of people on this board are more than willing to answer questions and offer suggestions to help you in this rewarding and sometimes frustrating hobby. :) HTH

I totally agree with what has been stated above. Puffers are very very prone to ich and 3 of them in a 55 with a tang and triggers is a disaster. You will never get rid of the ich with that many aggresive fish in that size tank. At any rate the problem will be solved for you as the tang and triggers will probably not make it in a tank that is not cycled.
Please take the advise given here. If you can take the fish back to the lsf, please do it until your tank is cycled, and the ich is gone.
