treating velvet

Hi,
Recently my powder blue tang got velvet(I think). I moved him into a hospital that has been treated with copper. He has been in the tank for 16 hours. Im just wondering how long does it take before the visible symptoms, and the rubbing go away?
BTW, Im pretty sure it has velvet, because it looks like some one chucked a snowball at it. There are these snowy powdery white spots covering the fins and a little bit on his body where the fins rub on. Also, I noticed some suspicious white things on my glass. There is a significant accumulation! Could these be the parasites?
TIA,

Do you know what ick looks like and, if so, have you decided that you can rule out ick in favor of velvet?
It could be a couple of days before you see the velvet drop of....depending on what stage the parasite is in. Copper does not effect velvet until the free-swimming stage anyway. So, if you fish live thru this, then the copper will kill the parasite once it has cycled to the free-swimming stage.
