Hey everyone,
My tank has been up for over a month now and I just noticed tonight that my royal grama and a damsel seem to have something that looks like ich. I've been reading other threads on ich and it sounds like a hypo treatment is the way to go. I'm wondering if someone could expain exactly how to do a hypo treatment. I don't have a QT set up but I do have a 10 gal and a 20 gal that are empty right now that I asume I could use. Also, should I wait a bit before trying anything or is it best to act right away? :notsure:
other fish don't show signs of ich, but I'm sure they are in danger if it is ich.
my tank also has:
3 green chromis
1 golden sleeper head goby
2 perculas
1 cleaner wrass
1 peppermint shrimp
2 sepent stars
bunch of snails and hermits

If it is ick, you will need to do a hypo. It does work.
But the most important question you need to ask yourself, Why am I not running a QT?
A quarrantine tank is a small, bare place where fish hang out prior to being introduced to your main tank. It gives you a chance to watch them for a month or so, to see if they have ick.
Unfortunately, you are learning the way I learned. The hard way! But that is okay, you have tanks already you can use as QT.
I suggest you do a search here at SWF.com on QT and Hypo. Read the facts, and set up a hypo tank.
One additional point, if you have several fish that need to do the hypo, it sometimes makes sense to hypo your fish in your main tank.
All you snails/inverts/LR would go into a smaller, normal tank.
