I have a 55 gal tank that has been running for a while with no fish in it just rock sand..so i decided I want to get some fish for it.. I recently purchased a lighting fixture which is 260w of CF lighting...here is my question about a few days ago I purchased some tree sponges 1 red and 1 yellow and I placed them in the 55 as in my 120 RT i'm having issues with micro bubbles and it will kill the sponges in there. now the sponges are in a std. 55 so its not that deep and there is only a small amount of branching LR in it definately not enough to create a low light area...so should I leave the lights on or off untill i get a fish in there. i'm affraid the lighting will cause the sponges to get algae growth on them would that harm them..i'm also worried about lighting acclimation shock..can sponges get that ? I know they preffer low light but from going 1 week with no lights or a few days to 260w would that harm the sponge ? what should I do this lighting fixture has 3 switches 1 for the actinics 1 for the white lights and 1 for the cooling fans..it also has 4 led moonlights but I have no idea how to get them on...Please help me out as I wann ake sure I do the right thing before harming the sponges..thanks
