Ok... Tuesday a blue hippo is arriving via mail order from this site. It is coming alone, and is the second one. The first one died about 6 hours after I got it in the QT. I know these fish are ick magnets and I really want this one to make it. Assuming that it comes intact without apparent illness on it (which is a big assumption) I am trying to decide...Should I .... A)should I freshwater dip it first???? and then B) put it in a hyposalinity (1.007) tank? or C) forget A and B as long as it looks well and just put it into a qt that is euosmotic and with therapeutic copper levels?? Or what combination of A, B, C.
In addition.... If I freshwater dip, should I do so in a how many gallons of fresh 8.3 ph, 75 degree water? with or without formaldehyde???
I know these are a lot of questions....But I need you to help me keep this fish alive.
