im just curious to see the ways you guys all remove detritus from your sump; ive got got a tiny 10 gallon wetdry that has accumulated alot of under the biobals and the best thing i can figure is a wetdry vac and totally draining the thing. how do you guys do iit?

can you remove the bio balls and siphon it out during a water change?
usually good idea to clean half the bioballs every so often.

ya, i pull out and cleaned the balls last week; the problem is the crap is on the bottum of the sump, which is on the floor, so i cant get a siphon going since the floor is as low as it goes :/

With a sump that small; a turkey baster may work. You could also adapt a small PH or pump with a piece of tubing that should reach anywhere.

Turn off your return pump, stir up the water where all the crap is, and if you have an extra pump, pump the water out. or if you have a shop vac just attach a piece of clean tubing on it and suck it out, but on my old sump I did the first way

use a P/H in hand and hold it near the bottom. Have line going into bucket and it will suck up dirt and spit it out.
