Trigger Comp

I was looking into getting a trigger fish for my 125 FOWL tank. Wondering about suitable tank mates. Currently have a Koran Angel and a sohal tang in the tank along with a few clowns.
Considering Future tank mates such as dottybacks, valentii puffer, foxface, hawkfish.
Mixing triggers and dottybacks?? Don't really want to spend 30 bucs to feed my trigger. Thanks, appreciate any advice on triggers, haven't been able to find much in the way of info on them.

there are the "friendlier" species of triggers, just dont know by experience how they could handle their own

I don't think the issue is going to be the trigger. A 125gal is tight confines for the Sohal tang. I have a feeling he's going to be very unwelcoming of new additions (at least competitive sized fish), which is going to be a trigger and the foxface.
That said, if you were try a trigger, the perfect fit would be a Pinktail trigger -- Melichthys vidua. I normally suggest a trigger of the Xanthichthys genus, but you have pretty rowdy tankmates lined up. The Pinktail may do better.

Triggers don't eat smaller fish, they're not like lionfish. In fact when they become agressive, it's usually to other fish of similar or larger size. Also, there are different types of triggers, some friendlier than others. Aqua's suggestion is a good one! I have a pinktail and he seems like a pretty easy going fish, for a trigger.

+1...I'm not sure my 240 is large enough for my Sohal, these are potentially a wickedly aggressive fish, and a 125 is far too small for a Sohal. Koran Angel will outgrow a 125 as well, but not for several years.
But I agree, Pinktail, Bluejaw, Sargassum would be good choices in your setup.

Surprisingly my Sohal is doing really good in my 150gal. When I first got him, I was a little worried about his high agression, I didn't think I'd be able to keep him for long. But he's actually gotten less and less agressive with time, as he got accustomed to the other fish and the tank. Now I see little to no agression from him and looks very comfortable. (not stressed or crowded)

Yes, well I think all of my fish will eventually out grow my tanks. I have a hippo and a salfin in a 55 gal tank. The sohal is fairly small at the moment 5-6 inches, and the Koran is the larger of the two say 6-8 inches and still in the juvenile stage.
Surprisingly everything is very peaceful. I have a lot of rockwork with a number of caves, and even the yellow tang that I am holding for a friend seems un-pestered.
Guessing I am just fortunate that all of my eventually large fish are still rather small. Thanks for the advice on thus far received. I was looking at the rectangular trigger mostly based on price 26.00 for a 2-3 inch fish.
Looking for additional tankmates, A 125 gal tank seems a bit bare with just a koran and sohal, and two clowns.

What else do you have in the tank with the sohal? I picked mine up for 89.00 at the LFS and was glad I did. Without question one of my favorite fish and from everything else I have seen a definate bargin.
