Trigger question

Quick question, Is it safe to keep more than one trigger in a tank? I currently have a Niger trigger and I am thinking about adding other types of triggers. Thanks, Jim

I have a 7-8 inch clown trigger and a 4-5 inch humu humu trigger in my 220g and they swim together all over the tank. You can do it if you have a tank that can handle the bioload of the two messy eaters, along with enough room for neither fish to feel threatened.

Be careful. I have a 6 inch niger in my tank and I added a clown and a blueline trigger. The niger left the clown alone, but tried to kill the blueline the minute I put him in.
Just keep a close eye on them.

If you add another trigger in I would suggest a slightly different acclimation procedure. I would acclimate the fish as normal in a bucket with the knotted hose, but rather than just putting the fish straight into the tank after acclimation get a couple of large baskets from the dollar store or similar (they look like strawberry containers sort of). If you get 2 then put the first one in the water and put the fish in the basket full of water (the basket has lots of slots in it). Now take the other basket and strap them together to make almost like a cage out of it. I sink that to the bottom of the tank and let it sit overnight. This gives the "new guy" a place to hide and also lets your established fish check out your new fish without having to worry about anyone getting hurt. This is what I have done with all of my fish in my aggressive tank and I have never seen any signs of chasing or attacking... Good luck!!!!
