Trigger to add.

Hey I am looking to see what would be the best trigger to go along with my Hummu Hummu. I also have a Javanese Damsel, Blue Damsel, Copperband Butterfly and a Valentini Puffer.
I love the Clown Trigger. But I am thinking that might be to extreme. My Damsels are also highly aggressive.

Is this for your 60gal? It might be pushing it to add another agressive trigger. Normally a niger and humu go together ok, but not in a small tank. The smaller the tank the more agression you get. A sargassum trigger might work and they are slow growers, like the humu.

This is good to know. Right now my guy is maybe and 1-1/2 in. What size tank would I be looking at needing when they get to full size, and how long off would that be?

Humus and sargassums are slow growers... maybe 1" a year. I'd say when he reaches 4" then you can upgrade to a 125 or 150gal. But I think you're ok for at least a couple of years. On the other hand, Nigers grow a lot faster.

Whatever you decide; keep a good eye on the copperband. There are always exceptions; but most CBs don't tolerate aggression, or even a lot of flashy activity. I also think you'll be giving yourself a lot more options by getting rid of the damsels. A large trigger can eat them sooner or later; but those little monsters can ruin a nice community.
