Trigger?

I have a 55 fo tank with a maroon clown, valentini puffer and 4 damsels. I'm going to add a dwarf lion when my lfs gets one in. Question: is there a trigger that would remain small enough to be happy in this setup?

Hi,
Not that I am aware of, although you might want to ask some of the people on the aggressive board. One of the books I use does list three triggers as being able to use a minimum tank size of a 55, the undulate, picasso, and the scimitar. However, the first two at least will make mincemeat out of some of your other fish! I would think you may have serious combatiblilty issues with your tank. I doubt seriously your damsels and clown will make it will a puffer, lion, and trigger. I may be wrong but this is what my research has led me to believe.

Triggers tend to get big, and even a 55 might be pushing it. Others may disagree though. Main reason I replied is because of the assortment of fish you are putting together. First off, I hope your clown is big, or he may very well go bye bye once the lionfish is added. Same goes for the damsels. I kept 2 lions for over 3 years in the same tank, and the only fish that ever made it with them was a large clown trigger. Whatever they can fit in there mouth, they will put in there mouth. Just a word of caution.

The clown is 4" and is too big for the lion to try to eat. The valentini might nip at him a little but they've been gettin along well so far. The puffer should probably be allowed to grow a little before I put the dwarf in. Damsels will be coming home (the fo tank is in my office at work). I think I'm going to have to get another tank for larger fish.
