triggers with in a tank with copper

are trigger extra sensative to copper ?
because I just saw my niger trigger try to jump out of the tank and he hit the light which was off and splashed back in ? I did a test and was using cupermine and in 30 hours raised the level from 0.15 to 0.5 which is the desired level for treatment of parasites.
has anyone had any experience or heard of this ? would a fish try to jump out of the water for this kind of reason and are triggerfish extra sensative to copper ? thanks

I miss read your post and you should test nitrate. Thought you had copper in for 3 weeks my mistake.

what do you mean ? nitrate is at 0 always and b4 a w/c at 5 but most of the time at 0 its a fowlr with great filteration and skimming no nitrate problems.

FYI: Ammonia test kits can not distinguish ammonia from the amine based complex present in Cupramine™ and will therefore give a false high reading for ammonia while using Cupramine™. Ammonia Alert™ and MultiTest: Free & Total Ammonia™ test kit do not suffer from this problem as they utilize a gas exchange technology that can distinguish ammonia from amines. or test for nitrate.

I use red sea test kits and been using this for over a year and the reading are always accurate...I just tested today and the copper level was 0.15 (minimal) and the nitrates were 2.5 and nitrites 0 and ammonia 0..so i dont understand... ?

Is the fish breathing rapidly? You can add a air stone for now to help.

FYI:if you overdose with a dechlorinator, such as Prime™ then the Cu+2 will be reduced to Cu+. Cu+ is 10 times more toxic than Cu+2.

i have a maxi-jet 1200 in the 65 fowlr..hes not breathing heavy at all although he seems stressed out something is bothering him he keeps itching all over the SBand rocks he pistols and shoots at the glass and flips and goes crazy i'm assumin its ick I have a clreaner wrasse in there and they get along fine..but still hes stressed from the itching all over the rocks and sb...thats why i put in the cupermine ...i want this parasite if it is one which it prob is off of my 2 year old trigger. it was breathing havy at times but now hes not alkthough he just tried to jump out of the tank...scary

i have no idea what your talking about sorry lol im not that smart.. i dosed like the instructions said first a little then after 24 hours a bit more to get to 0.5 which is where it is at now maybe even a bit less...

Ya, I would freak too
You should check every thing you can.
Just do not add a dechlorinator, such as Prime it would be bad

i just finished my full scale testing...ph 8.2 alk- 11dkh temp 79F salinity 1.024 ammonia-0 nitrite0.1 maybe but prob 0 nitrate 2.5 calcium 300 (no corals just from small weekly dosses of purple up.

It is an additive that removes chlorine and ammonia from water.
It is best to do a water change and not use a dechlorinator.

he eats just fine he pounces on silversides prepared frozen foods pellets nori...etc all soaked in zoe and garlic. i use strss coat to repair scales and fins on some fish but it also says it removes chlorine and cloromine ?? is that bad i used very little? but i thought that is good for them doesnt it give them a protective sime to avoid parasites anyways this was b4 dosing the copper,

I think that is the prob. I would do a small water change.

I think I have read somewhere that they r sensitive 2 copper, i can't remember whether it was triggers or puffers, it's coz of their skin, they have different type of skin to other fish, or they have no scales, I don't remember exactly, anyway I'll try and look it up again and get back 2 u.
