Well figure this one out? I have beeen using a refugium with a built in skimmer ,no problem works great. Up till now. Had a red algae problem i got some med from the salt water store.Read the directions. Says to turn off the skimmer, and take out any charcoal you may have. No problem. Put in the med ,a white powerdy substance. Waited 48 hours. Did a 30% water change like the directions said. Cleared up the red algea. Waited another 48 hours, like it said then opened the air for the skimmer pump and got millions of small bubbles pumping into the aquarium from the return hose. When i turn off the skimmer no bubbles at all.I have tried for the last 5 days to turn on the skimmer and still get millions of mini bubbles.skimmer worked fine before i put in the med. Any suggestions????

Have you tried cleaning the skimmer? Your skimmer was probably still being supplied with the medicated water even though you weren't providing it with any air to make it function.....Maybe it's possible the skimmer walls are coated with something from the medication to give this affect?????HTH

I don’t know if you used red slime remover from ultralife like I did but that product will definitely up your oxygen level and your skimmer will produce a tremendous amount of bubbles as mine did it will get back to normal in a few days IMO just remember to dump your collection cup often as you are filling that up quickly and introducing that back into your tank via the returns thus all the bubbles

I'll second Florida Joe. I used it once and my skimmer was freaked out for a while. The cup would literally fill in less than 1 minute. Keep with the water changes and leave the skimmer off for a while. As long as your changing out water every 2 weeks, your lessening the tanks need for the skimmer.
Personally, I'll never use that stuff again. Hopefully.
