and failing miserably!

I have a Canon Powershot S5IS and i've been trying to get some good Macro shots of a few new Corals that I picked up over the weekend. If anyone has this camera or knows how to get in really close with it, i'd really appreciate it.

you have to press the button that looks like a flower to activate the macro function. if you hold in the button as well it should activate the supermacro function.
should be in your manual

I don't know very much about this camera, but here are some basics.
Clean the glass on the inside of the tank right before shooting, very important, even though you might not be able to see it, there is usually a very thin film of algae.
Use a tripod! It's almost impossible to capture good quality macro images without a tripod
If you have an ISO setting drop it to 200 or 400, better images with less grain
Use manual focus!.....autofocus simply doesn't capture the true details when trying to shoot thru glass and water
If you have an "A" or aperture overide try setting it to 11-18
Turn all the pumps off.
Hope this helps

Dont go over ISO 200 on P&S...way to much noise at ISO400 and above

Manual focus is to had with the small P&S and the way it magnifies the image and using a button to make the adj. stick with the AF

Your aperture will only go to around 4.5 I believe, P&S have a MUCH smaller sensor which in turn gives a much larger depth of filed then a DSLR with the same ap. f4.5 is equal to around f11 or so on a DSLR
