I purchased a pink tube anemone a few weeks ago. i have a fine sand base about 1" deep in the bottom of my tank. Is the tube anemone suppose to stand up or should I place it near some rock for it to be upright? Right now it just lays on the bottom of the tank.

It should be buried deep in your sand bed, IMO yours is too shallow. They will retreat below the sand and often look as though they have disappeared. They are nocturnal feeders and should be offered raw meaty seafoods. For shallow sand beds you can get a PVC pipe and stand it up in your tank like a column, fill it with sand and place the anem in it. Over time the PVC will get covered in coralline algea and the animal will have the room to extend its tube down.

I would say 1-1/2" dia about 3" long would prob be good.

Thanks PD. I used an 1 1/2" PVC about 5 inches long and attached it to a 1 1/2" to 3" bushing for a "foot". The tube anenome slipped right in and I think he's happier in it than on the sand bottom.
