Tunze Auto Top Off

Hi All,
Am looking into getting a auto top off system. I frequently am out of town for several days at a time and don't have anybody that I can depend on to correctly top off the tank.
It is important to me that whatever system I get be simple yet almost bulletproof. In looking over the various systems available, I am leaning towards the Tunze 3155, in large part due to its optical sensor with failsafe backup.
I know this is more expensive than some, but I am more interested in getting something that will work well for me.
I would appreciate any comments pro and con on this system.
Thanks
Chris

I have had the Tunze for almost 2 years now. It works great. You do have to clean the sensor occasionally with a soft cloth to keep any algae from building up. I'm not a fan of the brackets used for setting it up, but they work. We have had one problem where the pump failed & Tunze had me send the whole unit back & they sent me a replacement unit. No problems.

Thanks for the response.
It is looking like very few use this system, probably because of the expense. In all my checking, I can't find any complaints about the quality or function of the system, other than the mounting of the sensors.

Well worth the extra cash IMO.....I have 1 setup, but still working out where I want everything setup......I've been playing with extending the wiring which is the only thing I'm not pleased with, but that really isn't a big deal, and the big part is keeping the eye clean as stated.

Did you get it ordered yet??? I still have to make some modifications to the mounts for the sensors......I need to extend them down a bit in the sump.....They just aren't long enough......Alittle more acrylic work for me....

Got it ordered, but was not in stock so will probably be about another month til I get it.
I found the Tunze instruction manual PDF and it looks like I will have to do some work to get the sensors mounted correctly. I'm not too worried about that since it will be late spring before I am gone for any period of time so that I won't be able to watch and do the fine tuning that it looks like it will need.
When I get it I might find that I need some guidance.
Thanks for your help.

I'm running two on two different set ups. One is on a 20L nano and one is on my 45 display.
Both work FLAWLESSLY!

I tried three different setups on my Display and all were trouble till I bit the bullet and bought the tunze osmolator.
I am using the mounting that came with the osmolator in the display sump which is Acrylic and rimless. It's a "Clamp". Take your time and follow the directions it's kinda screwy. but once you get it set up it stays put.
Now on the 20L I used the "rail" that come with the Kit and used the Cilps for the optical switch and the high water sensor...BUT I got some small magnets from Home Depot and glued them with Aquarium Silicon to the "rails" (two each per rail) I mount them to the tank with the magnets Nano Stream style. Works great!
BTW: they also sell an Extension kit for that. Tunze Holder Device Extension 3000.260 for like 11.00

The magnets sound like a great idea for a neat and reliable setup. I'll spend too much time between now and when mine comes in dreaming up a slick way to mount, then have to change my plan when I see what I am working with in my hands!
