turbo acclimitization

I'd say do a drip acclimate for 30min. I tried the whole drop them in, and they die a couple days later. Your suppose to drip your invert's, you can't use temp acclimate them. They will live ALOT longer if you drip them.

I also acclimate my snails before they go in my tank. I didn't acclimate them long enough one time and they all died. I do mine for about an hour.

You pay good money for this stuff.. why take a chance? plus killing snails is bad.. unless your gonna eat them

U shouldn't drop them in, some snails can't get back up by themselves, but 20-25 minutes should do the job,

I like to turn mine upside down and watch them have fits.

I know your not "supposed to" just drop them in. I was only stating what I did. So don't do as I do I guess. And I really didn't drop them in, I rather placed them.

I acclimate all inverts for 2 hours. Your snails are more likely to live a full lifespan if you EASE them into their new surroundings.

Thanks everyone, I did this for just over an hour. So far so good, I got this huge honking turbo snail yesterday. I have never seen these big ones before and the shell is just beautiful. My LFS lady has one in her 92 gal tank she has had it for over 4 years now. So this leads to another question.
How long do most of the snails live in aquariums?

Turbos can live up to 60 years and grow to 40 pounds...

Not really.. I have never seen anything about the lifespan of these.. I got interested when you ask the question so i done some surfing to find out and.. couldnt find anything. I had some for over 5 years once and ended up selling them back to my lfs after a sps crash.

dropping snails into a tank that has virtually the same parameters as LFS won't matter. A slight diff in pH, alk etc wont do them harm. But that case is rare, and as a rule of thumb, nothing should ever be put into a new environment without proper acclimation.
Snails I acclimate for around 1 hour or so, doing 1/4 cup every 10-15 min. or so into LFS bag.
