turbo snail death

i have 7 snails and one turbo just died to day when i removed it i noticed some blackish goo come out of the shell.....my tank is a 100g do i need to worry about this? I heard some snails can release toxic substances when the die..... also once the snail was out of the tank it slid out of the shell can i put the shell back in the tank? :help:

That would not be toxic coming from a turbo.

You can rinse the shell and put it back in. My tank is covered with decoritive shells from previous snails. Turbos generaly don't toxify the water, the goo from my snails turned out to be part of its body fluid. Sorry for your loss

thanks....just curios which snails can be toxic this way i can avoid them?
