Turbo Twist UV - Install question

I have a 9w Turbo Twist UV filter, I know 'how' to install it, but I have a 'unique' set up and was looking for a 'unique' solution.
According to the book the filter has a recommended flow rate of 100-200gph. I have an Eheim 2229 wet/dry canister filter, but accoding to them nothing can be plumbed in-line as the filter will not work correctly. I did try, and they were right, filter does not fill and empty as it should. (I think i could get away with it if the tank was not so high (water is pumped up to the max the filter can handle currently). I have an Eheim hobby pump but that is closed loop and running about 700gph, too much for the UV filter.
Since I do not have a sump I was curious if anyone has any suggestions on how I could set this up. I have a very 'clean' set up to my tank so I try to avoid 'hang-on's' and such.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Thanks! Actually, to give a little back story, I did try the UV filter in-line when I 1st started to see if it worked, I did not want to cut any hoses to early and have to buy and run new ones. It actually worked the first time, even with an extra foot or two of hose. I figured I would take the canister out, do maint. on it and use that time to in-line the UV filter. When after I cut the hose and hooked everything up it did not work, was very annoyed. Anyway, took the filter out, used a coupler to reconnect the hose and the filter still did not operate like it should, it then dawned on me maybe it did not go back together perfect. Well that was the problem! One of the media baskets was raised a 1/8" on one side, not sitting flush, allowing water to escape its proper path. So I fixed that, re in-lined the UV and everything is golden!
So happy now!
