turboflotr 1000Multi protein Skimmer

new to site. Apologize for repeat but need an answer by Monday AM. have 55 gal marine running 2 yrs with 9 fish and some corals. 1000Multi is rated for 125-250 gals. is this overkill for a 55 gal 1/2 price new in box

I don't think there is such a thing as overkill for a skimmer. The Turboflotor multi is a good skimmer. The only problem with them is that you must be sure that the vertical distance from the outlet of the pump to the skimmer is kept as short as possible. Once it is adjusted, this skimmer will work fine.

yes you can over skim not a good idea to get a skimmer that is well over rated for you tank you will start removing any good trace elements when your not skimming for doc

I have seen it said that overskimming removes trace elements, but have never seen any hard evidence of that. I'll start a search later tonight, and see what I can find.

you can over skim but your talking a super skimmer 220 on a 29g could not achive that. the conspericy of over skimming is very outdated
