turn off lights and filters during feeding?

i have been told by some people to turn off my lights and filters/skimmers/powerheads during feeding. i have also read that it is better to leave the equipment running as even moving flake food resembles a natural habitat more acurately as the fish have to 'hunt' for the moving food.
how do people feed their fish?
can anyone shed any light on this query (no pun intented!)

Leave as is. If anything if you have the capability to turn down your filters, then do so. Lights? No, man. Leave'em on. Somefish get spooked when the lights go down and go to there neutral corners. You could throw them off a little.

I used to leave the pumps etc running until I read not to. Now I shut them off for about 5-10 minutes. The pumps/and protein skimmer seem to work a little better now. Don't know if food was getting caught in them or if it was salt creep in the venturi that is now disolving...
I do leave the lights on tho.
The fish seemed to like it better when the stuff was ****** around, but that could be my imagination.

I agree .. leave the lights on.
When I feed flake I leave pumps on.
When I feed brine shrimp, baby brine shrimp, or frozen meaty treats I shut down the return pump so I don't lose much in my overflow, and the corals catch a few pieces as well. It also allows some of the food to settle for the bottom dwellers. After 5-10 mins - fire everything back up.
Once a week I specifically feed corals food with a pipet and throttle back on the flow some then too.
Just what I do

I would leave the lights on, I don't know about you by my fish don't like it when the lights go on and off. I have never heard of turning the filters off dureing feeding, I am going to try it. Good Luck

Our fish head straight to their caves when the lights go off. But I do turn the flow down on the return pump when feeding live brine, so I don't have them doing gymnastics in my overflow(it was pretty funny to see the first time, till I had to fish them out with a turkey baster).

I do not turn my lights off during feeding. They all go to bed when I turn the lights off. I am going to try turning the pumps off tho. Good idea!
