turning rock, live?

hey i have some big chunks of coral that is dead and i was wondering if i put a peice of figi in there would it turn them live?
i was thinking just a 5lb peice

Yes, placing "live rock in with "dead" rock will turn the dead rock live. You say "coral" though.
Are these pieces of dead coral skeletons?
They will probably become "live", but since coral isn't as porous as rock, it may not house as much bacteria.

Yup. I used mostly dead rock for my rebuild. It was crawling with life in no time and is coloring back up nicely. See if youcan get a mature, "show" piece from your LFS' display tanks.
