Is keeping a pair of young (1.5 inch or so) hippo tangs in a six foot tank acceptable so long as theyre introduced at the same time?
How about two young hippo tangs and a young powder blue tang introduced simultaneously?

The two hippos might be ok, but I think adding a powder blue as well would cause trouble as they are quite territorial. I had 3 hippo's in my 220 gallon that schooled and never picked on each other, so it can be done. It all depends on the individual fish.

First off you need to add odd numbers with tangs they do not pair off I had 3 blue hippos introduced into my 125 a while back ago and they schooled and were very peaceful to eachother. They swam ate and did everything together. After a few months I wanted a Purple Tang so I gave the 3 hippos away. If done correctly and tank size is right especially at a young age your chances are good.
