two questions

I just finished my project tank
now I am just tweaking it a bit. The two things right now that I want to do is first, put some kind of rubber mat underneath of my pump that is in my sump. It makes a lot of noise and I believe that if I can find something to place underneath of it that will help baffle some of the noise that it produces. I just do not know what would be safe to use,, any ideas??
The second is I have built a dorso standpipe and I am afraid that a large snail could get in there and plug up my drain what would you use to prevent this?
Also if you want to see more of the pics that I posted on this project https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/305240/help-i-can-not-figure-it-out I think that this thread died but here it is again.

1. I would get some eggcrate (they sell it at Home Depot) and put it across the bottom of the tank the pump is in. The eggcrate is safe for all marine life and should dampen the noise some. You could also just get some filter material and put that under it, as that should be safe for all life, as its used in most Filtration units already.
2. You could get, again, the eggcrate to cover the end of the pipe, or also some raw screen material that you could put around the inlet so that nothing could get in there. I think the screen would help to keep things out a little better, but you run the risk of it getting full of debris and clogging up the hole as well, so eggcrate might be the safe choice.

Scotchbrite pad will work well, but it will scratch the bottom of the sump underneath the pump.
A filter pad will also work very well... Whisper cartriges for their old-school power filters are pocket shaped. Just get one (without the charcoal built in) and set it in between.
