Two weekends and two yellow-jacket nests.

Last weekend I had some right by my chopping block in a tree and I think I was so close they just bounced off me before they could sting. This weekend was a hole in the ground and my weed-wacker, got nailed a couple of times. Good in a way to find them because they can be such a pain during summer when you are eating or cooking outside and both nests are gone now. One of the few times I use pesticides at all. Interestingly I think the problem this year is because for the first time since we have lived here we don't have a nest of bald-faced wasps nearby and they eat yellowjackets all day long. Anybody else been stung this year?

We have a lot of bees here and I've seen a couple kinds of wasps and yellow jackets too. I think they like the pond. Going to have to get some of that Pyrethon or whatever it's called. As long as you aren't an insect you can bath in the stuff with no ill effects.

get yourself some Levi Garret, chew if for a bit to soften it up and use it as a poultice. It will suck that venom out in about 30 minutes.

I will have to give that a try next time. I woke-up this morning and getting stung twice pretty much sucks. My leg is swollen, hurts and is itchy all at the same time. One really scary thing with yellowjackets is they can also infect you with the sting since they feed on dead animals.
