type of powerheads

I have the mag9.5 coming from my wet/dry sump and had placed a aquaclear 30 on the other side of my 90gallon. I know the aquaclear isn't enough movement as I would like to do a reef. Also I have lost one snail and now maybe a second as they went onto the bottom of the aquaclear intake and got stuck during the night. I heard the Seio moves a good amount of water. I can't afford the Tunze. If I got the 1100gph that should take me just over 20x. Is this to much and do they really work well? I don't want to blow my fish all over the place either. :notsure:

I would go with a couple of smaller powerheads rather than 1 large volume one. I prefer going with equal waterflow coming from powerheads at opposite ends of tank. That way the will (cross) meet at the middle of the tank and cause equal turbulance in the tank. If you have powerhaed producing 1100 gph water movement at one side of your tank and a 174 gph powerhead at the other you are sure to have a problem with good circulation and dead spots.
