I have one and asked Walter that very question. He said that that's normal and that if it bothers you, you can unscrew the housing some until it fills up and then tighten it back. I seemed to get the impression that it might eventually fill up and that it isn't totally full because it is new and is still breaking in. Feel free to write Walter anytime at airwaterice.com (check there for his email) and he will answer any other question you have very quickly.
Hope that helps,
Jody

Yes I did! I like it so far. Have only used it to make about 12 gallons of water, so I'm not 'experienced' yet, but it seems to do it's job!

You should let water run thru the system completely for a couple of hours or so when you first get it, before collecting the water for your tank.

thanks beth i did see that in the instruction so i have let it run in for about 5-6 hours. also i let it run for about 14 hrs and only got about 30 gals of water, does that sound right? will it get a little faster as it breaks in? 100gal/day unit.

whats the temp of your water when it drops under 70 it cuts down on the water output and if your psi is too low (under 50 psi) it will cut down the output
i have good psi just too cold water so i taped in to the hot water and i mix it before it gos in the unit that way i have 75 -80deg water as long as you don't go above 90deg it's fine

As mentioned, water temp and pressure are the keys to output. I don't know my water temperature, but my pressure is 56 PSI. I just benchmarked my output at 1 gallon in a little over 14 minutes. That works right out to 100 GPD.

is it true that when the pressure drops below 30psi it's time to change your filters. How exactly do you know when to change them?
