Hi, posted a thread about an identified thing in my tank. Found a pic online of it. The person who posted the pic online didnt know what it was either. The thing is the one with the long wispy white tentacles. Looks almost like a plant growing out of the rock, but when it is out, it pulls one leg in at a time and put it back out and draws the next leg in, ect, ect. It only comes out sometimes. When its done it draws all the legs back in again. Anyone know what it is???

I have them too, been there since I started my tank. They seem harmless

They are a type of branching hydroids. They are common hitchhikers and can be pretty aggressive and harmful to neighboring animals. They can sting human skin a little bit, as well - so handle with care.

there called Halocordyle disticha, or Christmas Tree Hydroid.
