I was letting my 4 year old son help me clean the outside of my tank, when he was done he went to flip me the rag and flipped it into the tank. I had windex on it, but it was in the tank for over a sec. Does anybody know what kind of damage this is going to cause? I just got done with my cycle about two weeks ago and do not want to have to go thru another. Thanks all for the help:help: :help: :help:

IMO
Don't do that again....Windex I mean...
Use Vinegar/water solution for cleaning the glass
If you don't want to start over (I wouldn't), Get some heavy-duty charcoal filtration going.
Then hope for the best......

I think you should be fine, but in the future I would use warm water to wash the outside glass and then wipe dry with paper towel. I would wait a week or so before adding anything and just monitor the water parameters to see if anything changes. Just add a little flake food to the tank everyother day to keep the bcteria beds satisfied. Hope this helps.

I would leave them in. I doubt if very much chemical got into the water. What did will also be absorbed by the LR.
Charcoal will absorbe the chemicals (if any) from the Windex.
If you don't have a filter that can hold charcoal, imprivise. A plastic bottle with small holes in the bottem, filled with charcoal, and your tank water running through it would work good. (hose on powerhead or punp of some sort)
A bag of charcoal placed in front of a powerhead would even help.
Partial water change if you think necessary

Was the rag saturated in windex or just a small amount on it. If it was saturated I would take the fish out and monitor the water parameters. If the rag was just mildly damp I would leave them in there and do what tagg said and run carbon. Run the carbon in either case and change every 3 days for a week or two just to play it safe. This is my opinion so maybe get a couple more opinions from some others.

It looks like you have received some great advice...
I agree with the charcoal...
I think you should defiantly do the water change...they never hurt.
