someone please explain to me why I can get a 75g for like a little over $300, but if I have it drilled its like $1100?
I would LOVE a glass tank, but I don't know much about finding one drilled for a sump. I'd rather not have a bunch of stuff hanging off the tank.
Is it smarter to just buy the tank and then try to have someone locally drill it? Is there a place I can get a predrilled tank and not have to pay another $600 bucks for it. I think that they add a simple filter or something. I have NO idea... lfs do this? Any help is appreciated as this is one of those topics I can't find much info on. thanks.

That sounds like too much difference- sounds like they want to sell you a whole "reef-ready" package with a wet/dry trickle, etc. An extra $150-$250 at most for a pre-drilled tank and overflow should be more like it.
Drilling glass is not easy, I doubt you'd find someone to do it since the risk of it shattering is so high. Acrylic, on the other hand, is a breeze.

I see... thanks for the info. If they say that its a predrilled with simple filter, does that mean that its drilled includeds the pvc fittings etc.?

For $600 extra, not only wold I expec the PVC fittings, but dinner, dancing and a good, um... snuggle... afterwards. I would definitley shop around. I paid less than $1,000 for a 65 flatback hex acrylic with overflow and custom built solid mahogany stand and canopy- its the nicest piece of "furniture" I own :)
You could look at: http://www.tenecor.com/ to get an idea of pricing on different tanks and stands for comparison with your LFS.

Drilling acrylic is easy (although a little scary on a brand new tank), there must be something more to the price difference. I have had glass drilled in the past, but alwayse had to sign a libility waiver as even with the proper equipment, there is still a great risk of breaking.
I'd find out what else is incluced in the extra $$ and do some further looking around.

I didn't know drilling was that difficult. My lfs drilled the 75g tank that i got. It was a used tank and i did't want the all the plumbing over that back. It cost me $15 per hole. I know the guys and they said they would have done it for free but for insurance reasons they had to charge $15. I actually helped them drill it. Oh well. Maybe you could look around and find someone to drill it for you?

my 75, had a differenc of 48$, iand now i really wish i had gotteen the overflows built in
i agree, for 800$ i want a commitment(ie chauffer service with that dinner, and probably more), but if that included the sump and all, that may be because some of them are way overpriced, and i think should be thrown out, considering you can get the whole set up for a little over 400$, and use any old tank, or even a rubbermaid container(from kmart for less than 20$, depending on size), ther is no way i would pay for that,
i'd ask them how much for just teh tank with the overflows built in, or pre drilled, if that doesn't cut it, and they won't come down ALOT, go somewhere else, and you cn buy the tank and have some lfs's do it for you, or even a glass shop(may), for well under 100$
