Awe don't be ashamed.. That's how I found this board way back when!! We ordered "cured" LR from this sight and put it directly into our display... killed everything! We emailed the sight all PO'ed about what they sold us and in short, they said they would take it back if we wanted but that we should "educate" ourselves on this board.
Well long and short f it. I didn't want my DT to be a curing vat so I took it all out and put it in rubbermaid bins and have been trying to rescue every other hobbiest from making the same mistake...
I guess this will end up being the thread of shame...

The lesson here is to ALWAYS add new rock to a tub, with a power head and a heater, and watch for spikes. Keep it in there for three weeks, even if it is cured. Any parasites on the rocks will be dead by then

Since I live 10 mins away from the coast, I've pick "most" of my rocks. What have I done before I place them in the tank... well, it takes a couple of days but, gave "good" results.
The process starts... Took the rocks that I chose, put them in Rubbermaid bowls (available in WM, KM, or any other Dept Store). When I got home, I flush them with water (fresh water) at high pressure (w/o pumps or anything, just stock hose) took any "weird" or unwanted stuff from them (if any still present), scrub them with a (med) brush, and let dry in the sun for a week. You can imagine that just a day in the HOT P.R. SUN, and you'll get a sunburn, imagine for a complete week. Any way, after that I flush them for a day in fresh (hose) water again and let dry again for a couple of days, then I flush them again and then I introduced them to their new home.
After this process, you may not call them "live rock", but, sometimes its better not to have it, that to have them... 'cause if you do, you may NO longer have your prior inhabitants of your aquarium...
