Undecided voters?

I cannot for the life of me understand undecided voters.
How can one be undecided when there are such glaring differences in ideology and philosophy between the two major political parties. Is it just plain ignorance?
I mean, are these people basing their vote on the candidate's looks and/or personalities?
Feel free to discuss.

I am still undecided... I will give you a few reasons why too
- I really haven't watched any debates
- I really don't want to watch any debates
-they can say all they want about changing this and that when in actuality.. nothing will change till long after they are out of office
- when they tell you they are going to change something they are lying.. they are politicians, thats what they do. they tell different groups what they wanna hear to get there votes.
-they attack each others personal lives
what they should do
- have ONE debate put it on EVERY channel so you HAVE to watch it. haha one guy comes out states his issues, other guy comes out states his. you let one talk and gag the other. from the 2-3 mins i have seen of a debate for president.. while one is talking or flaming if you will the other one keeps trying to but in... its pathetic.
this is why i am undecided... you can say all you want that the president lead the nation.. but that's BS because the government and congress are just telling him what to say and do. the guy doesn't even write his own speeches. your basically electing a face and a voice you want to hear the issues of the nation from.
there that should stir it up a bit!
I dont know if I will be voting at all.. I am just one person, who ever is gonna win will win by more than 1 person

Your vote doesn't matter anyhow, if the individual vote mattered than George Bush would not be in office now.

was that a put down of bush? lol I don't know why ppl don't like him... you put any person in his situation they ALL would have led us to war. ya maybe a little differently but we still had no choice in action. honestly.. if I could I would vote for bush to just stay in office. I personally think he has been a great voice and face for America lol

i dont know why other people are undecided, but i'll tell you why i am; b/c i can't decide which one is the lesser of the two evils.
do i want to give up my rights as a woman who doesn't want to be forced to reproduce?
or do i want to give up my rights as an american to defend myself by any means necessary if my person or property are attacked?
do i want to align myself with someone who quite possibly identifies himself with my own family's greatest enemies?
or do i want to align myself with a man who's right hand is an ignorant biggot?
Neither candidate shares my views on religion, neither candidate shares my views on gay rights, neither candidate shares my views on drugs, the penal code or health care.
I could go on and on and on.
I deeply dislike BOTH of the candidates. THAT is why I am undecided.
still confused?

Honestly it wasn't a put down, it is just discouraging that the individual vote doesn't count, so the peoples preference isn't represented.

I was under the impression McCain was for States' Rights when it came to abortion, not abolishing it. I could be wrong on that point, however.

perhaps I was unclear.... my issue is; I believe that simply because I CAN reproduce, does not mean i HAVE to. i am concerned that my right to CHOOSE may be put in jeopardy...my right to birth control, my right to an abortion, and our childrens' rights to ----ed & preventative education.
.....i would now like to make it UNEQUIVOCALLY CLEAR that I am NOT OPENING A DISCUSSION of this subject, I am just CLARIFYING for Silver that this is an issue in the current election that makes a difference in my choice of candidate.

That really scared the crap out of me.I live in Illinois and i have seen Chicago politics work. But Hannitys America really made me see that Chicago's political machine is nothing in comparison to what is in store for us if Obama gets elected.

I can see how people would still be undecided. It comes down to trust and politicians in general don't score very high in that department.
Just a quick note on Roe v Wade. If it was repealed tomorrow there would be no federal law against abortion. It would be left up to the states. I don't know if that is a great idea or not. If you had a state that allowed it next to a state that didn't you would end up with mills on the state line.
Many of those on the pro side only use this as a political issue to push an agenda. If they were truly worried about "reproductive rights" you would see them working to change state laws so should Roe be overturned it would have no effect.
I really only bring all that up because it needs to be removed as an issue. I remember a woman quizzing me on my views about it when I ran for city council. A member of the city council has about zero influence on the subject. She wasn't too pleased when I laughed at her question and she was a friend.

..And you're saying Clinton wasn't the cause of ANY blunders? Somalia?
I've got a feeling that you're one of those groupies that thinks Clinton was the bringer of all things good.

Yeah here's a real test. If anyone of those prolife zealots' daughters was raped by some pathetic, filthy vagrant with no teeth. Would they still keep the baby? That's the real test. Would you really want to raise the baby fathered by drunken Tyrone Biggums whom probably couldn't even recall the events of that night?
Many prolife zealots seem to think that their opposition are "proabortion" meaning that all pregancies must be terminated LOL... it's called "prochoice" for a reason.

I think the position of absolutely no way under any circumstances is ridiculous. From a political standpoint I don't agree with the pro life crowd but I can understand where they are coming from to a point. I see no point to forcing a victim to have a child. Like I said, I just wish the whole issue could be put to rest. It is probably the single most prevalent litmus test both side use other than a D & a R to choose a candidate.

It's downright stupid.

And just to pull the thread back towards the topic, that is one of the reasons you have undecided voters. You can have people who agree with a candidate on every other issue and this single one ends up being a deal breaker.

I kinda want McCain, but I can definitely do without Palin.
