i have read through the post's on the diy siphon kit. i have a fluval 405 canister, is there any reason why i couldn't take the return from the fluval and use it as the intake for the refugium? as long as the return pump from the refugium matched the intake pump from the fluval, it should work right?

a couple of reasons why that wouldn't work very well
First it would be almost impossible to keep the two flows equal, were with gravity feed the supply flow will be automatically the same as the return flow.
also you have to have a way to stop the supply pump if the return pump stops or visa versa, or you would have a flood
