he gets pretty evil during tank cleaning. after i cleaned his tank i did a water change and put the liverock back. he was darting wildly across the tank like always after cleaning but this time he hit the glass so hard he gave himself an instant fat lip and looked a little dazed. can he really hurt himself this way like get a concussion or knock himself out. also does anyone know if a 60 gallon is good enough for this 3" trigger, i know long term i'll have to move him but they grow very very slow so should he be ok in the 60gal for a year or so. i have a 100 gallon for him to have to himself when he gets bigger but its a fully stocked tank with many fish and inverts so it will take a while to find good homes for the fish that wont be transfered to the 60 gallon

Fish can definitely hurt themselves by smashing into glass. Why did you take the rock out during water changes?

When most places actually get an undulated, it's by accident. If they are not the dominant fish, they will hide 90% of the time. If they ARE the dominant fish, well, then look out! They will mess with and destroy anything you put in there eventually....

i know, its in a 60 gallon by itself now besides a pencil urchin which only stays alive because i feed the trigger 2 times a day. he was my first fish ever. the idiot at my LFS told me a picasso they had would be a good match because he was less aggressive but larger. they were fine for 2 days but with out warning the undulated murdered the picasso overnight while i was sleeping

None of this is surprising. I would have to say that if there is any fish i would never attempt to keep with others it is the undy. I don't know how out right nasty they are in the wild but under glass they are the nastiest fish on the earth. Even as the one post said some hide and act shy they are plotting their attack that is nothing short of vicious!

They are not at all socialble to an owner and you freaked him out with your cleaning. The tank is too small even now. If he makes it don't freak him out like that let the algae grow.
