Unfortunate event

Had an unfortunate event happen tonight, my flame angel got stuck in a piece of live rock while swimming through a hole in it. The hole started out big on one side, then funneled down to a smaller side. He was stuck like this for nearly 2 hours as I was hoping he would just get himself unstuck and I didnt want him to struggle and become more stressed out.
As time passed, it became apparent that he was really stuck in there and wasnt going to make it out without some help. I tried to push a little bit on his face to back him out, but it didn't help. Next, i took the rock out of the water for about 10 seconds and tried to smack the top of the rock to jolt him out of the rock. Sadly, this didn't work either.
As a last resort, I grabbed a hammer and took the rock out and beat the rock into 2 pieces, and didn't damage the angel in the process. He is now in the tank, swimming around and acting pretty normal, suprisingly enough. The sad part is I can tell that he's a little scratched up. Any advice on anything I could do to help the poor lil fella out? I asked a knowledgable friend, and he said to just keep a close watch on him if possible, which I intend to do. I just wasnt sure if there was anything else I could do to help the guy out, as I want him to be alright.
Sorry for the rambling, everony have a great day

I would guess that he probably wasnt actually stuck but you may have freaked him out by trying to get him out so he just decided to stay in the rock to keep himself safe from what he assumed was a predator (you)

At this point, the only thing I would do is add extra vitamin C to all of his food. This will help the cuts/abrasions heal up faster, as vitamin C promotes fin and tissue growth. You could use Kent Marine Vitamin C, Selcon, or VitaChem.
I hope your little guy does alright though.
