I have this coral(?) that is growing and it looks alot like aptasia but it doesnt retract all the way in the rock when disturbed, it still has a stalk. It looks alot like a yellow polyps but just brown and Really Small. It has long tentacles (the "eyelashes" of the polyp) that sway back in forth in the flow.
I have no idea what it is and am worried a bit that it might be some sort of unwanted anemone.
Its too small to get any sort of clear pic.

watch to see if it spreads. If you are planning on having shrimp and have compatible fish try to pick up a true peppermint shrimp and he'll take care of it if it is aptasia. They are pretty cheap $2 around here.

i already have a pepperming shrimp in the tank and hes not bothering with this new growth.
i had gotten him a while back to take care of some aptasia so i know he would have gotten it by now.
The thing is that its spreading really quick and it has a stalk or stem.

Doesn't aiptasia retratact its whole body into the rock when its disturbed? Or can it leave its stem out and just retract its head?

If you feed a lot your peppermint shrimp might not be grazing. I had to cut back my feeding to force the shrimp to graze until he found my aptasia and I don't have any more.

Well i didnt find out what it was but im guessing that it was some sort of aiptasia variation. I soaked them in some boiling freshwater so they're all gone now.
