Update on my tank

2 weeks into the cycle...so far so good. In addtion to my Koralia 4 powerheads...I added 2 more Koralia powerheads #2's in the bottom back corners of the tank for more flow. Those spots seemed to be dead spots. Now even in between the rocks and caves there is some sort of flow. I also put on my T-5 lights to see how much my temp was going up. Here are some pics
Here is the tank. The new powerheads are circled in yellow...obviously. They are also pointed upwards in about a 35% angle

The QT also in the cycle

I put a comp fan in the back/middle to keep my tank cooler or sustained. It does not go past 82.5 degrees at almost the end of the day. The fan comes on with the lights. At night It goes down to 81.

I also added some sand and a few chunks of live rock to the sump/refugium. When the cycle is over Im gonna throw some chaeto in there. I also closed half the top of the sump with left over acrylic and cut out a circle for the skimmer collection cup. I was also having bubbles rush across the top because of the return line so I cut a piece of acrylic (in the yellow circle of the pic) to fit in there. A home made baffle if you will. There was no need for glue because I cut it so that it presses in there and doesnt move. Now the bubbles die down considerably before it even reaches the refugium.

I did manage to get it cooler. I now run the fan all the time and it gets down to 79 by mid morning and 81.5 before the lights go out. I run the fan over my eggcrate so it still cools pretty good and evaporation is a bit more. The Aquascaping took me a few days and there are many caves and hiding places than the picture shows. Im even amazed at the job I did.....its my first time.
I plan on having a reef. Peaceful fish to start and a few corals...bubble, Hammer, frogspawn. A few colorful zoos and thats about it.

Nice tank. I'm jealous. I'm gonna be getting a 200g but I'm waiting until I move. One little piece of my 2 cents: I'd maybe point on of those 2 upper powerheads toward the surface water line. It'll help with more efficient gas exchange and give a nice 'rippling' effect in your tank as the lights refract through it. Thats JMO though. Looks good.

Actually I had to put the powerheads up there because and lower and the sand would start shifting. That was the only spot where the sand would not move so I kind of lucked into that. You are correct on the rippling effect. The water ripples like crazy so Im glad thats a good thing.
