my tank is def at fully capacity right now. Luckily Ive been able to keep ammonia at 0 and trates below 20. But I just found out I will be opening a seafood store in april and I plan on putting a 125, or 180 in the store and transfering all these guys over. Just have to hold out til then.
Question, a 125 is the same as a 75 but 2 feet longer right? And the 180 is the same as the 125 but a foot taller right? Whats a 150 tank dimension?

Its a nice tank but i just seems to me that there is too much rock and the fish have very limited amount of swimming space. you would certainly have issues adding fish that get large like angels and tangs.

its about 2lb per gallon, standard amount everyone should have. The whole front of the tank is wide open so they can go end to end, tell u the truth the only fish i have that actually does go end to end is the huma huma. I think having more rock is beneficial because it gives everyone places to hide, they each have their own areas. Have one tang and one angel now, both are still juvis,
I actually have no plans to add any more fish, I just want to add another 50-100 gallons of tank size. give everyone room to grow

I think its a presonal preferance on how much rock, personally i like 1-1.5 lbs per gallon, so i have about 200lbs in my 150. As far as standard tank sizes i have no clue since mine is a custom 150g. Also, if you are upgrading and putting a tank in a resturant/store/shop, i would get alot of peopls opinions to see what is most eye appealing,, you want it to be a focal point not having everyone say 'that looks cramped' and of course youll have the people that think you need to have more fish, lol

yeah i havent found a place yet so i dont know what space ill have to work with. But I know I dont want to spend a fortune. Ill keep search Craigslist until I find a nice 125 or 180 reef ready. Ill sell the 75 and that equipment and roll with it. I just want more space for the guys to grow.
im a sucker for a good CL deal, thats why i have some much LR right now.. I see people getting out of the hobby and get nice cured LR for 2 bucks a pound! Cant beat it.

A 125gal is more like 90gal then a 75gal. A 125gal is 6ft. long, 18" deep, 2ft high. 75gal/90gal tanks are both 4ft long and 18" deep, but 21.5" tall and 25.5" tall, respectively. A 180gal is 6ft long, 2ft deep, 2 feet tall. 150gal's have a couple different sizes in both 5 foot, and 6 foot lengths.
Agreed with above, amount of LR is personal opinion (to a point). Though for a store display, I'd think you'll draw more negative comments from people 'trying to be smart' and remarking "there's too much rock," instead of the other way around with below average rock.
I do find that usually if there's a clear path along the front, the fish generally enjoy darting through the rocks more then being in the open. Just have to watch as the fish grow, they still can, and they also have ample room to turn around, etc...

Thanks aqua, thats the info im lookin for. So by upgrading from 75 to 125 I gain 2 feet in length and 4 inches in height. I think that should be sufficient for the current stock list.
also, agree with your opinion on the display being used in the store. Most people in general "are dumb" about saltwater and would prefer to see a yellow tang swimming around a castle or sunken treasure chest. Not understanding the benefit or LR. I really dont care for that type of thing and prefer that natural look.. I just cant wait to get this thing started
