is there any crab that can live with puffers or triggers? like something big enough to fend them off?

the fella I bought my tank from actually put a full size lobster in with his clown trigger... don't ask me why. the trigger tore it to shreds.

this guys fine in the 180,i move him back in fourth between 180 and 75.he shed his shell last week!!! was kool i have his other shell,he got like 2"bigger

Not suggesting anyone else try this...but I have a stars and stripes, porc, and huma huma in a tank. I put in 7 fighting conchs (chose them because they can fully retract into the shell if knocked over), and thus far I have not lost one. It's been about 2 months now. I never see them...ever, but the other night I sifted them all out, and they are still alive. I also have 1 VERY stealthy zebra hermit...lost one claw when I first put him in, but now remains unseen except for night. Today I added a strawberry hermit..he is learning quickly from the Huma. I also have 5 turbo's in this tank. They get their shells nipped at from time to time, but they just clamp down, and I have no problems. I will next try a serpent star as I have one in another tank, and it stays very well hidden. Just trying a variety of things to see if any can last, but with the expectation that I will loose most. So far so good

I had 2 fighting conchs in my tank. The humu ate both of them within a week. He can sort of sense them under the sand, then BAM. Grabs them and sucks them out of the shell. Then I "inherited" 2 more from my friend and the humu ate those too, real fast. Same with the nasarius snails. However the 2 chocolate chip stars have survived untouched so far and I also have a lot of red hermit crabs that have learned to hide in the rocks during the day and only come out at night. I have at least 20 that are doing well.

when i had my HT and triggers the only thing that i could get away with is a tiger cowrie...To this day this is the only invert ive found capable of surviving triggers and large wrasse's wrath/hunger

I have a small toby puffer, so if you have a bigger one it might not be as safe but i have some big turbo snails, some blue legged hermit crabs and a coral banded shrimp with him and they all get along great. sometimes the shrimp will throw his arms up at the shrimp but they never hurt each other.

I have 2 large hemit crab's about the size of a baseball (including shell) I just added a small (about 1 inch) niger trigger and his already trying to eat the crabs. buy cheap inverts that way when they are eaten you don't lose to much money
