If I go to mh from pc's will the intensity from the lights affect any of my corals in a bad way? I was thinking about adding 2-3 175w
mh on my tank along with the pc's (4x55w). I would like to put in some sps corals in the tank.
I have a 100 g tank w/
toadstool
finger leather
califlower leather
hairy mushroom
pineapple coral
moon coral
frogspawn
red tooth brain
open red brain
I don't want to kill any of these after I put the lights up. Any info I can get would help.
thanks

just place all the corals on the bottom and slowly aclimate them back up to the height you want them. also be sure to shorten your photoperiod significantly when you first do the change over. there are a ton of formulas for lighting, but when i did mine i went from 12 hours of pc to 6 hours of mh, and then set them 10 minutes longer each day until i reached 8 hours, which is what i run them at regularly now.
it takes about 20 seconds to adjust your timer each night for the following day to add 10 or 15 minutes more, so it shouldnt be too difficult for ya if you want to try a method like this.
