I was just brainstorming and wonderd if i decided to upgrade to a larger tank in the future because my fish were outgrowing the one they are in know could i just take the water and lr + ls and put it in the new tank and then add the fish and corals and not have the tank cycle all over again? The new tank size would be from 80g to 100g and the current tank size is 60 i would be using the same filters and all that stuff.

You can take the LR & LS, but it'll probably recycle, because you will be disturbing the sand. I don't think you'll have a problem with the LR though. Might be better to use new LS or dead sand and seed with a layer of LS from your other tank.

No matter how you go about the transition you'll likely have a mini-cycle at best. I also have intentions of replacing my display with a larger one...and when I do I'll re-locate my current display...then set-up the new one and cycle it with new sand and LR...as the cycle completes then I'll begin tranfering the old stuff over to the new display a little at a time. When the old LR and creatures are re-located I'll use some of the LS from my old display to seed the new DSB and the rest of the LS from the old display will be distributed in my refugiums.
