Upgraded lighting questions

I've just upgraded my lights from a PC 96w to a 250w MH and 130w actinc. How should I make the transition to these new lights. I'm adding about 284w of lighting. Someone once mentioned that you could use layers of mesh type window screen, and then remove 1 layer each day till the corals are acclimated. How many layers do you use or are there other methods?

Ditto!!! I'm going from a 150 with 4x96w PC to 3x250MH. Closing the deal now, but thinking ahead. Any help would be appreciated. Don't want to shock my softies...

just pile a couple layers of egg crate on top of the tank, every couple days remove a sheet of the eggcrate
